The Office of Multicultural Affairs is accepting nominations for the Human Relations Award 2008 until April 14. The Human Relations Award has been established to recognize and reward any UNCG-affiliated student organization or residence hall that has demonstrated social responsibility in responding to domestic and/or global issues since the end of the 2007–2008 academic year.

Eligibility

Any university affiliated student organization or residence hall

Criteria

Groups to be considered for the Human Relations Award must show examples of participating in or promoting activities that emphasize social responsibility in responding to domestic and/or global issues.

  • Exhibits concern on domestic and/or global issues affecting the lives of all members in the University community
  • Is active in the University and greater communities
  • Promotes and participates in community activities and programs addressing a need of a specific population

Examples include:

  • Hunger banquet that raises awareness about the living conditions of people who are homeless in Greensboro and around the world
  • Providing mentoring and educational enrichment for youth from "at risk" populations or youth with disabilities
  • Educating the university community on how to lobby the state and local government for societal needs
  • Breast cancer awareness campaign
  • Domestic violence vigil

Students, faculty, and staff may make nominations using the form below. Groups may nominate themselves. All nominations must include a second. A committee will review the nominations and make the final decision. The Nomination Form below should be completed and submitted online before the Monday, April 14 deadline.
