The annual Scholars Recognition Program sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs is an opportunity to recognize the scholastic accomplishments of UNCG students of color who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher (based on the GPA at the end of fall semester).

Invitations are issued to eligible students in early spring and those who accept the invitation participate in the ceremony, usually late in April or early May. The audience includes invited, ticketed family members and guests of the honored students who proudly witness the procession of scholars into the Cone Ballroom and enjoy a brief program featuring remarks from several of the students and encouraging words from university officials such as the Chancellor or the Provost. After the speakers conclude, the name of each honored student is announced as the student walks across the stage and receives a custom-designed commemorative medallion, a certificate of merit and congratulations from university dignitaries for their academic achievement.

The afternoon concludes with a reception and an occasion to socialize with university faculty and representatives of each academic discipline and an opportunity for students to be photographed with their guests and university personnel.
