Education & Training

The Office of Multicultural Affairs strives to provide interactive programs and comprehensive services that heighten the University’s commitment to diversity. To accomplish this charge, the Office collaborates with other UNCG departments in formal diversity training and sponsors two annual conferences, Latinos Impacting Future Trends and Shades of Color. The Office also spearheads UNCG initiatives to help foster the development of community.

Stop the Hate

STOP the HATE is a national program, sponsored and created by the Association of College Unions International, Anti-Defamation League, National Center for Hate Crime Prevention of Hate Violence, and Tolerance.Org of the Southern Poverty Law Center. The program supports colleges and universities in preventing and combating bias and hate crimes on campus as well as fostering the development of community.

Annual Conferences

LIFT LogoLatinos Impacting Future Trends

Begun in 2001, the annual LIFT Conference focuses on health, educational, political, social, religious, and economic issues concerning the Latino population. Nationally recognized keynote speakers and outstanding workshop presenters are invited to participate and to facilitate discussions among conference goers.

SOCC LogoShades of Color

The purpose of the Shades of Color conference is to provide information and encourage dialogue among all students on current issues affecting our diverse student population. As a result of this conference, we hope that the University and surrounding communities will gain a better understanding of these issues and enhance cross-cultural communication.
